Folder Structure

How to organize the design Comps folder.

To better standardize the way files are organized the following structure will be used across all future projects to minimize the confusion of finding files, for the design, PM, and AM teams. This will apply to the Servers, FTPs, and Box account. Designers will be responsible for making sure the organization follows this format.

Initial Designs

File naming convention: Project_version_date_designer-initials

Starting with version "0" for the initial so that revision numbers coincide with revision task numbers on Wrike (ie. "Project_v1..." would refer to "revision 1", "Project_v2..." to "revision 2", etc)

The initial files would be saved in the INITIAL DESIGN folder within the MAIN SITE folder.

If changes are made during the initial design phase, replace the file (archive any old versions) so that the version always remains v0.

Revisions

All revisions will be saved in the REVISIONS folder, organized by date, within the MAIN SITE folder.

Additional Folders

Any design themes or high contrast views related to the main site project should also be nested within that folder.

Subsites should live in the same folder level as the main site, following the same folder structure as the main site.

Post-Launch Changes

Any revisions or updates post-launch will be saved in its own folder POST-LAUNCH REVISIONS, organized by date.

Style Guides and Templates

A separate folder will also be made for Style Guides and various template requests. Create and organize subfolders appropriately.
