Archiving

Auto-Archiving

As of the February 2017 update, we are now able to provide auto-archiving for all visionLive clients. This is managed via a system variable. This will provide CMS users with improved ability to restore previous versions of content to improve internal workflow.

Vision’s archiving solution automatically archives a version whenever a CMS user clicks to Save their content (using Save, Save and Approve, or Save and Publish buttons). CMS users may restore previous versions through the archive history on the selected content. There is no limit as to the number of versions archived in the CMS.

This option is available for the following content types: Pages, Calendar, News, RFP Posts, Job Posts, FAQ, Business Directory, Service Directory, and Staff Directory

Auto-archiving will be included for all vLive clients as part of their vLive subscription.

Archiving FAQs

  • Are there any technical (actual or recommended) limits to the number of archives we can manage and maintain per site?

No, but archived content will be considered part of the allocated space per site.
  • Can I delete a document or image that is part of an archived version of content?

CMS users cannot delete documents/images that are associated with archives, even if the currently published content no longer includes that document/image. This will maintain the integrity of the archive and allow for restoration if necessary.
  • What happens when I swap a page template? Will the archived versions of that content be saved?

For auto archive: when we swap a page template, the page with new page template is archived and all old archived versions (using previous template) are deleted/removed.

For manual archive: when we swap a page template, all archived versions are deleted/removed.
