Hello *|FNAME|*,
We are scheduled to update your visionCMS site with the latest visionLive release Thursday, 10/20/16 after 7:00 PM your time.
Nothing is required of your staff to complete the update, but users may experience interruptions accessing the site for up to 5-20 minutes at that time.
Please share this as necessary with your IT team and content managers. If you have any questions or concerns about this scheduled maintenance please email or call our support team at support@visioninternet.com or 310-656-3100, option 2.
New Components or Features:
We are constantly updating our products with new features based on feedback and continued research. Below are details on the newest components and features we have added since the last release.
Online Reference pages for these features are available and if you need further assistance you can contact your support agent at support@visioninternet.com.
visionLive Enhancements
Edited Content Report
Reporting capabilities are surfacing as a high priority item for many of our clients. Specifically, we heard the Edited Content Report is important.
Previously you were able to go back either 7, 30, or 90 days to view edited content from both the dashboard block and the traditional report. From the main reporting page under Administration / Reports / Edited Content you can now go back in time 180 days or view All historical changes with ease.
visionPulse Enhancements
Blog
What makes social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest so successful? They all have one thing in common -- fresh content.
Are you now wondering, "Are the days of static websites strictly used for providing basic information are gone?" Absolutely. Residents yearn to build deeper relationships, but local governments often lack the tools to properly address these needs. When they do have the right tools such as a WordPress blog, available staff time becomes a major barrier as you manage multiple systems and login credentials.
visionPulse now allows you to open the door to conversations and share your community's stories through the new blog functionality. To name a few highlights:
Authorship
Much like visionPulse topics, you are able to associate content with specific people for display on the front-end of your site. This allows you to quickly search and filter for relevant blog posts by a preferred author.
Commenting
It would not be a community engagement offering if your audience was unable to comment on your post, right? Not to worry. We have included the same commenting functionality and moderation capabilities that you expect with other popular tools on the market.
Social Media Integration
Grow an audience and attract new readers from social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. You can post directly to the native platforms immediately after publishing a new blog post.
Supporting Widgets and Settings
Many different departments will want to offer their own blog without displaying content from other departments too. You can easily sprinkle other widgets such as Recent Posts and Archives in conjunction with the widget settings and constraints to fine tune your blog offering.
Email a Topic Host
The best community engagement tools offer two-way communication channels. All topic hosts now have the ability to receive email messages directly from the front-end of your website.
Once an email is associated with a moderator, the ability to "Send a Message" to the topic host will appear on the front-end of the website.
Enhancements to Existing Features:
In order to keep your website ahead of the curve, we are constantly enhancing its features. For our latest release, we have fixed various bugs, made performance improvements, and refined the code, as well as added these latest enhancements:
Two Factor Authentication
Security enhancements are a focus as of late and this release introduces the first form of two factor authentication (2FA) via Email. For those of you less familiar with 2FA, it is a great way for additional security. After a CMS user enters the correct username and password; an email will shortly arrive at the address associated with that CMS account.
The email will include a 6-digit temporary passcode which expires in 10 minutes. Keep in mind you can send an additional email reminder in 30-second intervals should you not have time right away.
Once you locate the 6-digit code, complete the login process by typing that code in the available input field before clicking the Login button.
Got questions or feedback? We're listening! Email or call our support team at support@visioninternet.com or 310-656-3100, option 2.
Yours sincerely,
Robert Schnelle
