Go Live & Maintenance Phase

go-live-maintenance

Goal

The goal of the Go-Live and Maintenance phase is to introduce a new point of contact at Vision in order to provide timely future support and assistance with additional work. It is also a time for wrapping up any content changes before going live. The phase is complete with the domain being pointed to the new website (IP).

Vision Deliverables

1) Introduction of Account Management team

Client Deliverables

1) Schedule go-live date and notify Vision (1 week lead time)
2) Update domain DNS records and notify Vision of the change

Keys for Success

1) Make sure to communicate internally of when the Go-Live date is and keep in mind there could be questions coming from constituents used to the old website in the first few weeks.
2) Schedule the DNS changes early with the resource responsible for managing the domain name.
3) Be aware that DNS changes can take several hours to take affect, include this with any communication regarding actual Go-Live date/time.

4) Keep in mind that search engines will initially be out of date. This is natural for any new website and will resolve itself. To respond appropriately to visitor’s queries about broken search results, share that search engines will initially be out of date but will systematically get more accurate over time. Consider posting this information on the website as well.
